Quirky Musical Dramedy

Shows that fall under the quirky-musical-dramedy genre are usually ones that have a unique premise which permits singing and dancing as a normal fit in the realm of the show’s universe. CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND

The show’s silly premise about a successful lawyer ditching her life in New York to stalk an ex-boyfriend she met at summer camp as a teenager makes it nothing short of a quirky dramedy. The musical numbers incorporated into each episode add to the “adorkable” charm.

Flight of the Conchords

The show is centered around the wacky shenanigans of the New-Zealand based musical-comedy group composed of Bret McKenzie and Jermaine Clement.

Glee

The show follows a group of (mostly) socially awkward misfits in their high school glee club. While the goofy series has plenty of fun, it also tackles many deeper issues that categorize it as a drama.

High School Musical

The romantic teen trilogy follows Troy and Gabriella as they battle their way to become the lead in the school musical. As a TV movie featured on Disney Channel, the love story is dramatic but the humor has a silly, quirky charm.
